58th Independence Anniversary: Mark, Ortom, Moro felicitate with Nigeria, say Nigeria will rise again

The immediate past President of the Senate, David Mark, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and Abba Moro, former Minister of Interior, have felicitated with Nigeria on her 58 Independence anniversary
The trio in separate statements called on Nigerians to continue to pray for peace and progress of the country.
Mark, in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Paul Mumeh, urged Nigerians not to despair in the midst of socio-economic and political challenges.
Rather, Senator Mark said such challenges should be the needed elixir to bring out the best in all Nigerians to salvage the situation.
The former Senate helmsman, in a goodwill message to Nigerians marking this year’s Independence anniversary, implored citizens not to lose faith in the project Nigeria, believing that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
“We have encountered so many challenges in our journey to nationhood. No doubt, it has been a torturous one. But we must not give in to such challenges. All we need to do is to properly harness our human and material resources for the benefit of all citizens”, Senator Mark stated
On the forthcoming general elections, he prayed that politicians and their supporters play the game according to the rules saying that what is paramount is the preservation and survival of the country.
He reiterated that Nigeria is a project under God whose unity must be sacrosanct.
Senator Mark added: “it is my wish to be President of a united and indivisible Nigeria where every citizen has equal right and opportunity to pursue his or her legitimate ambition unhindered.”
On his part, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, enjoins Nigerians to sustain their faith in the corporate existence, unity and indivisibility of Nigeria even as the country faces so many challenges.
The Governor calls on the Federal Government as well as states and major stakeholders to synergise and intensify the fight against terrorism and other insurgencies such as Boko Haram, herdsmen attacks and criminal acts across the country.
He urged Nigerians to deepen the democratic culture by abiding by the rule of law and due process as they vote for credible leaders that will lead them towards accelerated development and progress in the forthcoming elections, particularly in the 2019 general elections.
Also, former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro has felicitated with Nigeria on her 58th Independence anniversary.
Moro, a senatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue South, called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the country, especially now that activities are heating up ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The former minister in a statement signed by Emmanuel Echeofun, Director Social Media of the Abba Moro Campaign Organisation, enjoined Nigerians not to give up hope, noting that the nation will soon overcome her many challenges.
“The Abba Moro Campaign Organisation (AMCO) felicitates with the good people of Nigeria on the 58th Independence anniversary of the country.
“On this day of Nigeria’s 58 Independence Anniversary, we pray for peaceful coexistence among all the various ethnic groups and religions across Nigeria.
“We call on the good people of Nigeria to continue to pray for the progress of the nation. It is a known fact that after 58 years as a free and independent nation, most citizens of the country are yet to experience true freedom.
“Nevertheless, Comrade Moro urges the people of the country not to give up. We have come a long way to give up at this critical moment. Nigeria is indeed a great country blessed with natural resources and good people of diverse rich cultural heritage.
“As we head towards another electoral year in 2019, Comrade Moro enjoins Nigerians, especially the people of Benue South to queue behind candidates that will bring about development trajectory in the zone.
“We should put aside politics of bitterness and eschew evil before, during and after the elections.
“Surely, Nigeria will rise again and our glory would be restored.”
