A two-term lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Prince Bisi Yusuff, on Friday said some politicians who keep away from the people would find direct primaries difficult.
Yusuff, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts (Local) is seeking a third-term ticket to represent Alimosho Constituency I in the Lagos Assembly under the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The lawmaker told newsmen after hundreds of party faithful at Ward H in Alimosho LGA participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) state assembly primary election in the constituency that people should be the priority of governance.
According to him, politicians should not live far away from the people they are leading and should not disregard their needs because they will still need them.
“If you run away from the people, it is a day like this you will know, because power belongs to the people. Any politician that runs always from the people is actually running away from his problems.
“If you alienate yourself from the people, when election comes and you go back to them, you will not see them. Then you will get your result.
You can see how the people trooped out to appreciate me because I live among them.
“I live among the people, I don’t run away from them, if I do, they won’t troop out en masse to support me. If you are good, you will know and if you are not, you will also know,” Yusuff said.
He added that he would spare no effort to improve the health and economic conditions of his constituents if he is returned to the seat at the general elections.
Newsmen, who monitored the House of Assembly primary election of APC at Ward H, Parakoyi Field, Alimosho Local Government observed that hundreds of party faithful were present.
Other contenders of the seat included Mr Abiodun Falade and Mr Akin Bashiru.
